Prescription Drug Actos Causing Injury

Actos is a drug prescribed to treat those who are suffering from type 2 diabetes. Many patients who take Actos formerly took the drug Avandia. They made the switch because they thought Actos would offer a safer alternative, because Avandia was found to cause serious side effects such as heart failure, stroke and death. Actos contains the drug pioglitozone, which has long been known to cause blood clotting which leads to serious health risks. In June 2011, the FDA warned the public about the potential dangers associated with taking Actos. While Actos can cause similar side effects to Avandia, it has recently been found that those who have been taking the drug for a year or longer are at an increased risk of developing bladder cancer. If you are an Actos user, you should contact a medical professional in order to be evaluated, especially if you are displaying symptoms of bladder cancer.

These symptoms may include: blood in urine, painful urination and increased urge to urinate. Bladder cancer unfortunately has a high reocurrence rate compared to other forms of cancer, which means extended suffering for patients and increased medical costs. If you developed bladder cancer or another serious side effect after your use of the drug Actos then you may be entitled to a claim, so speak with a product liability attorney from Arnold & Itkin today. Our firm has never been intimidated to go up against big pharmaceutical companies to get our clients the recovery that they deserve.
