$117 for Victim of Ambulance Accident Victim

Arnold & Itkin LLP secured a $117 million verdict for their client who was permanently disabled by a negligent ambulance driver.

Back in 2010, the plaintiff was several months pregnant and began to experience serious stomach pains. She called an ambulance from Acadian Ambulance to escort her to the hospital. The woman was unaware that her driver had a poor driving record along with poor vision. On the way to the hospital, the driver dropped something which he proceeded to pick up off of the floor. While he was doing so, he completely took his eyes off of the road and consequently crashed the ambulance into the back of a sugar cane truck. The accident resulted in the woman severing her spine and sustaining serious brain injuries as well. Doctors have said that the woman is forever confined to a wheelchair and will never make a full recovery.

By the time this case was nearing a conclusion, our client had already racked up around $1.4 million in medical bills. It is estimated that throughout the course of her lifetime, she will have to pay around $30 million. An unfortunate component of this incident is that the victim's baby was born prematurely. Although she is healthy, there is a chance that she will suffer health complications throughout her lifetime because of her premature birth. The woman also had another daughter, and can no longer care for either of her children. The two girls are now being cared for by their grandmother. In order to care for the woman as well as her two daughters, Arnold & Itkin was able to see that the case resolved in a $117 million verdict.

$38 Million Won for Wronged Client

A $38 million verdict was reached on behalf of a wronged client in one of the firm’s largest cases of its kind.

In an attempt to acquire one of Hawaii's largest lumber suppliers, Honsador Lumber Corporation, Houston investor Richard Foreman was prevented by intentional interference by Key Principal Partners LLC and its parent company Key Corporation. They were found guilty by a jury of breaching their fiduciary duties, intentional interference, and violating Hawaii's unfair competition statute. Legal Team at Arnold & Itkin Settle $14 Million Seaman Case

Kurt Arnold, Jason Itkin, and Mike Pierce resolve a $14 million seaman head injury case before trial.

The incident took place in Lake Washington, Louisiana on the inland barge Hercules 15 when a seaman took a blow to the head from a three-foot pipe. The pipe had been tack welded onto the derrick but never removed before starting drilling operations. The pipe was then jarred loose and hit the Plaintiff in the head. Arnold & Itkin was able to secure $14 million for their client when Hercules settled just two days before February 2, 2009 when the case was set for trial.

$11.5 Million Restored to Injured Offshore Worker

Arnold & Itkin LLP took on the case of an injured maritime worker and were able to obtain a settlement of $11.5 on his behalf.

Attorneys Kurt Arnold and Jason Itkin Win More Than $10 Million for Louisiana Family

$10.9 million was won in a verdict after a three-week trial over the death of a mother and the paralyzing of her young daughter in a crossing accident.

Three weeks of trial is all it took for Arnold & Itkin attorneys to convince the jury that Union Pacific's protection of a specific crossing was sub-par and led to the paralyzing of a five-year-old girl and the death of her mother. The Louisiana family filed suit in Beaumont, Texas claiming the crossing was a tremendous safety hazard. The plaintiffs showed evidence of sight lines being deficient because the road approached the crossing at a thirty degree angle. Four prior accidents and two deaths had also occurred at the same crossing in the past seven years. Judge Sanderson ruled that Union Pacific should have protected the crossing with active warning devices.
